Featured Musician: Katie Armstrong

You know that woman who sits in the crescent moon, playing a ukulele? That’s Katie Armstrong. Sittin’ away, a gentle hand strumming, voice sweeter than marsala and sadder than rue. Her songs, autonomous creations on their own, provide both an aural backdrop and a sonic tether for her introspective, complex, and painstakingly made ink-on-paper animations. With work on view as part of Walk the Line, Neue Wege der Zeichnung at the Kunstmuseum Wolfsburg and an upcoming live performance at EIGEN + ART Lab later this month, Serpentine Magazine thought it appropriate to wax poetic about this performing, recording, drawing siren.
